CDPAP

When navigating the world of in-home care for your ill or disabled loved one, the amount of options can seem overwhelming. One of these options is CDPAP, which is short for the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program, a Medicaid program that provides assistance for Americans with disabilities or chronic ailments. Sometimes CDPAP is referred to by another name, CDPAS. CDPAS is an acronym for Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Services , but is the exact same thing as CDPAP. The goal of the program is to allow those with disabilities or chronic illnesses to have daily care from the comfort of their home. CDPAP provides many crucial services to residents all over the state.

CDPAP allows the client or designated representative to hire family members or friends to care for their loved one. This can eliminate any stress involved with bringing a stranger into the home. The person providing the service is known as the Consumer Directed Personal Assistant, or CDPA.

CDPAs can provide both specialized and personal care to their clients, including, but not limited to, bathing, toileting, medication reminders, nutrition, mobility assistance, and light housekeeping. There are many benefits to participating in the CDPAP, including the ability to hire and fire a caregiver based on your needs, training caregivers to perform tasks the way that you need them performed, and the ability to schedule caregivers when you need them most.

The client must be eligible for Medicaid in order to receive CDPAP. This means that they meet the basic qualifications to receive government assistance. The client must also expect to need care for the next 180 days. It’s important to note that a CDPAP applicant will be assessed by a nurse, possibly multiple times, prior to receiving program benefits. This is to ensure that your illness or disability requires daily care from a member of the family or a friend.

Vivid Care offers caregiver placement services to aid consumers in finding care for their loved ones.

We used Vivid Care to help my grandma get CDPAP. She was in hospice but we wanted her to be in the comfort of her own home. Vivid care was able to designate my aunt as her caretaker and help her get paid while doing it, and we are so thankful that she was able to pass with dignity surrounded by the people she knew.
